Mohammed’s India visit to boost ties

DUBAI — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai will pay an official visit to India starting on Sunday upon an invitation from Indian PM Dr Manmohan Singh, it was announced yesterday. During the two-day visit, Shaikh Mohammed will lead a high-ranking delegation.

Improve governance: Mohammed

DUBAI — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has stressed the importance of the federal government strategy which was unveiled recently.

The strategy is aimed at upgrading government performance and improving the quality of services rendered to the public.

Training programme

Addressing a workshop on the implementation of the strategy, Shaikh Mohammed said he was looking forward to training second and third level officials in the ministries so as to prepare them for the managerial challenges ahead. “You should take advantage of every single minute to improve government performance and get rid of red-tape”, Shaikh Mohammed told the participants who were drawn from various ministries.

Once the implementation of this important strategy begins, said Shaikh Mohammed, I expect you to work as one team.

“Along with the cabinet, I will follow the implementation of this strategy,’’ he said.

“Whoever excels in his job will be rewarded. so you must train and work hard,” said Shaikh Mohammed, adding that any dereliction of duty would not be tolerated.
