Mohammed is thanked for support to creative ideas

DUBAI — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday attended the inaugural session of the Entrepreneurship 2010 conference. It was organised by the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) and the US Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Other dignitaries at the ceremony included Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Government Sector Development, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Saeed Mohammed Al Kindi, businessmen, academicians and senior officials.

Shaikh Nahyan welcomed the participants and thanked Shaikh Mohammed for giving patronage to this important event and for his continuous support to the creative ideas and initiatives by the youth.

“Under the leadership and guidance of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE strives for competitive advantage in the global marketplace,” Shaikh Nahyan said.

“To succeed, we must increase the participation of our private sector in national development, and in turn, in the global economy. Our entrepreneurs must learn how to work, and compete, effectively on the global stage. They must be prepared to play an important role in shaping our economic future,” he added.

Shaikh Nahyan called for establishing a regional ‘think tank’ that would nurture ideas and initiatives by youth and prepare the ground for best practices and a successful future.

At the end of the session, Shaikh Mohammed signed copies of his best-selling book ‘My Vision’ for the participants.
