The government on Tuesday ordered restoration of mobile internet services in the entire Jammu region, two months after the facility was suspended to check rumour-mongering following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.

On August 5, the authorities had ordered suspension of mobile internet services in all the 10 districts of Jammu region. However, the services were restored in five districts after a few days.

"The administration has ordered the restoration of the mobile internet services in the five districts of Jammu region including, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar," Jammu Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kotwal told PTI.

He said the broadband services that were also suspended in these districts were also restored. The broadband service was suspended to check rumour-mongering during Eid last month.

"We have ordered all the mobile phone internet services providers in the five districts to restore the services from today," Kotwal said.
