Over two million worshipers attended the completion of recitation of the Holy Quran (Khatm Al Quran) at the Grand Mosque in Makkah on Sunday night, the 29th night of Ramadan. They included visitors, Umrah pilgrims, citizens and expatriates, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The worshipers thronged the Grand Mosque since the early hours of Sunday. The floors, passages, roof and basement were full to the brim. The rows of worshipers spilled over to all the courtyards surrounding the Grand Mosque and the roads leading to it.
According to the report, the worshipers at the Grand Mosque were led by the Imam and Khateeb of the Grand Mosque Sheikh Abdulrahman Al Sudais. He prayed for Muslims on this blessed night that He forgive them and save them from the Hellfire. He also supplicated that Allah Almighty protect the Kingdom and the Muslims' countries from all evil. He prayed for the security and stability of this country and for all Muslim countries.
The report also stated that the traffic flow was smooth. There were no traffic jams or accidents despite the great number of vehicles that entered the holy city of Makkah on Sunday night.
Makkah Police deployed their personnel and security patrols in all the districts of Makkah and the roads leading to it so as to monitor security and help the visitors and pilgrims.
Meanwhile, in the Prophet's Mosque in the holy city of Madinah, over 2 million worshipers from Madinah and outside it attended the Khatm Al-Qur'an.
