They said that the accused, who was brought to the UAE by his brother, allegedly killed him over a financial dispute.
The police have arrested Ibrahim Kutty. The brothers hailed from the south Indian state of Kerala.
The police investigation has revealed that Mohammed Kutty, who was running a supermarket, was attacked with a sharp knife following an argument over a financial dispute.
The investigation officers said they received a call from Ibrahim Kutty on Sunday morning saying that he had found his brother lying dead in a pool of blood.
The condition of the flat and other evidence collected from the scene proved that no stranger had entered the house, the police said.
During preliminary interrogation, Ibrahim said when he came out of the toilet around 6am on Sunday, he found his brother lying on the floor bleeding profusely.
The police who suspected Ibrahim's version put him under sustained interrogation later.
Finally, Ibrahim confessed to stabbing his brother.
Family sources said that Mohammed Kutty had been living in the UAE for the past 17 years.
"Mohammed Kutty brought Ibrahim to Ajman a few years ago and found him an employment. They were happy brothers and never seemed to have any problems between them. We do not know what exactly has gone wrong," said a family source.
