"We were surprised when our Filipino housemaid knocked on our bedroom door around midnight and told us that the Ethiopian housemaid was behaving abnormally. She said the Ethiopian woman was laughing loudly and speaking to someone who was not visible," said Salim Al Amry.

Al Amry said he had recruited the 23-year-old maid with the help of a recruitment agency in Al Ain.

The woman, who runs the recruitment agency, phoned him and gave an assurance that the housemaid was medically fit, and requested Al Amry to take her home.

Al Amry then took the maid to his house, but the woman did not sleep the whole night on the first day at her sponsor's home and scared the the Filipina housemaid.

"I filed a complaint against the recruitment agency at the Disputes Section of Al Ain Department of Naturalisation and Residency (AADNR). The Disputes Section told us that I had to bear the medical check-up expenses, while the recruitment office would pay for the rest of the expenses," Al Amry added.

Al Amry has got the housemaid's visa cancelled and handed her over to the recruitment agency.
