Leaders laud role of UAE Armed Forces in stability

ABU DHABI - The 35th anniversary of the unification of Armed Forces was observed across the UAE on Thursday with the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, lauding their role in ensuring the security and stability of the country.

Addressing the nation, the President and the Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said: “I want to salute you with a deep sense of honour and appreciation for your sincere patriotism and deep loyalty. We value your unrelenting efforts in the service of our nation, protection of the sovereignty of our beloved country, and preservation of its stability and security.”

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in his address also praised the country’s military on the anniversary.

The Vice-President said: “You are the creme de la creme of our bountiful, benevolent, loving, optimistic and highly ambitious country. The celebration of the 35th anniversary of the decision to unify the Armed Forces is also a celebration of a victorious march crowned by sky-high achievements.”

He said “the national will is strengthened to carry on with confidence and determination”.

General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in his address said: “Thanks to perseverance in training and keeping abreast of contemporary developments, our Armed Forces have mastered many modern defence systems and technical equipment within a short period of time and are now considered on equal footing with modern armies and a major player in ensuring security and stability in the region.
