Starting next month, applications for various transactions may be submitted via the Internet directly from companies if they have the e-dirham machines and the ministry's new software, or from typing centres which have adopted the system, Dr Khazraji said.
Under the new system, the process of filling in relevant application forms for various work will be done in a matter of seconds by just typing the number under which the company is registered with the ministry, said Tareq bin Deemas, head of the Employment Licensing Department of the ministry.
The new system, he said, was based on the comprehensive database of companies.
"The ministry has been working for years on building a detailed information bank on all registered companies with regard to the number of employees, their legal status, size and other relevant matters.
"The data-bank is almost complete and is the cornerstone for implementing the new application system," Mr Deemas said.
According to Mr Al Khazraji, it would be enough for the applicant to type in the number of the company's file and specify the type of labour transaction he or she is applying for and other details of the company will be downloaded immediately on the e-form from the database in the system.
Some information have to be keyed in such as the date of issue or expiry of a worker's labour card or the name of the worker.
"After filling in the form, the application is sent electronically to the ministry for processing," the under-secretary said, adding that for labour card applications, the photograph of the person would have to be scanned and transmitted with the application via the Internet.
Mr Deemas said that the new system would be initially available for companies which were members in the e-Unit of the ministry.
At present there are around 400 companies in the UAE which are benefiting from the services of the e-Units in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
