The bridge, which consists of three lanes in both directions, has been constructed by Sharjah Public Works Department as part of the Sharjah government’s massive ongoing road projects.

The bridge was inaugurated by Yousif Al Sewaiji, Director- General of Sharjah Public Works Department. He was accompanied by officials from Sharjah Traffic and Licence Department.

The bridge links Sharjah city with industrial areas and Dubai. It will also help in easing traffic flow on Al Wahda and King Faisal Road. Speaking to Khaleej Times Al Sewaiji said that the project was undertaken on completion of studies conducted in coordination with the Sharjah Traffic Police department to remove traffic congestion on Al Wahda and King Faisal roads.

“The result of the studies proved that the construction of the bridge would help in easing the flow of traffic in both directions linking Sharjah with Dubai and Industrial areas,” he explained.

He added the bridge would also contribute in easing traffic flow on Al Wahda Road, as important road construction projects are currently being carried out. Yesterday afternoon, the Anjad Patrol and traffic police removed all temporary detours in Al Wahda road area and directed the motorists to use the bridge.

Brigadier Abdullah Sultan, Head of Traffic Department, urged the motorists to abide by traffic safety regulations and be cautious while driving over the bridge.
