Trivandrum: The winter session of Kerala assembly began on a stormy note on Monday with the opposition Left Democratic Front disrupting the proceedings, demanding the resignation of Excise Minister K. Babu over the bribery charges leveled against him.
Speaker N Sakthan adjourned the house after rushing through the day's proceedings when the opposition members stormed the well and started shouting slogans following rejection of their notice for an adjournment motion on the issue.
Moving the notice for the motion, deputy leader of opposition Kodiyeri Balakrishnan accused the government of shielding the minister, who has been accused of receiving a bribe of Rs100 million from bar owners for not raising the license fee for the financial year 2014-15.
