UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash on Wednesday, in a series of tweets, said the Qatar crisis had been going on for too long and it had become important to look beyond the issue and "think of it as a new set of relations in Gulf replacing the old ones".
"We have to go on without Qatar," Gargash said, adding that the "conservative Gulf monarchy" was promoting policies and values it did not practice.
"Barring Qatar's review of past policies, current state will continue for a while. New regional relationships will emerge and strengthen," another tweet said.
The announcement comes a day after Saudi Arabia and its allies unveiled a blacklist on Tuesday of 18 organisations and individuals suspected of links with extremism that they said had ties with Qatar.
The list blacklisted nine charity and media organisations and nine individuals "directly or indirectly linked to Qatari authorities" as "terrorist", read a joint statement released by the four states.
"We expect Qatari authorities to take the next step and prosecute the terrorist groups and people," the statement said.
The four countries and their international partners will ensure that Qatar has ceased its support and funding of terrorism, has stopped welcoming terrorists and has stopped spreading extremist and hate speech," it added.
UAE Central Bank orders freeze of terror accounts
The UAE Central Bank has issued a circular to all banks and other financial institutions operating in the country to start immediate search for and freezing of all bank accounts, investments and deposits that may be held by any individual or entity mentioned in the new terror lists declared by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt on July 25, 2017.
The move comes as part of the four countries' consistent efforts to fight terrorism and their continual endeavours to update their lists of groups designated as terrorist organisations and individuals, and in line with UAE Cabinet Resolution No 28 /2017 to add nine individuals and nine charities to the terror lists.
