The Ice City, known by its theme "Dubai Under Snow", has been turned into a mini 'winter' wonderland during the DSS with the child revellers having the time of their life before they bid adieu to their summer holidays.

"Dubai Under Snow", has witnessed a rush by children who want to squeeze in as much time in the fun and exciting zones that are spread out throughout the city, so that they can participate in the games, competitions and throw snowballs at one another, before the DSS draws to an end.

Natalie Dowe, a four-year old from New Zealand, said her most exciting times were when she went sliding down the ice and made snowballs.

Expressing their sheer happiness and fascination at the ice games and events distributed across the "Dubai Under Snow" city, Aisha Yousuf Al Salal, aged 12, and her nine-year old sister Mariam, from Kuwait, said they were thrilled to see snow falling in the city in the middle of the hot summer.

They said they had participated in almost all the competitions at Ice City, and they also made sure they could go sliding on the ice. The two girls wanted to make their visit to Dubai their most memorable moments in the city, which they will carry with them into their new school year.

Taif Omar, a four-year old Omani national, echoed the same sentiments expressed by Natalie. Taif made sure she took part in all the games, and also in bike riding. For Taif it was a unique experience, as this was the first time she saw snowfall in summer.

Rain Mohammed, a 10-year-old Lebanese girl, said "Dubai Under Snow" was the best place to be if you wanted to forget the heat outside. The 10-year old simply could not restrain herself, as she moved from zone to zone enjoying the various activities.

Sara Bahaa is a 12-year old Palestinian who considers "Dubai Under Snow" the coolest place to spend a great time during the summer. The "Big Jump" is Sara's favourite game because she goes up into the air and comes back down again, giving her the feeling that she was like a snowball falling so freely.

"Dubai Under Snow" is being organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. The concept is aimed at creating a snowy winter in the midst of an extremely hot summer, incorporating a lot of fun areas targeted at children and adults alike.

Alongside there is a Fun Zone, where visitors enjoy the added thrill of snowfall while kids can enjoy the pleasure of playing and pelting with snowballs. It also hosts Ice-Carving demonstrations by professionals, besides the Bumper Cars and Bungee Jumping games.

There is also the famous Splashy and Sparky Club that features clowns, and offers face painting and other entertaining activities. Children can also get a free membership card that gives them access to the club's activities

The Icy City has "snow flakes" falling from the ceiling, giving a look and feel of a real snow-bound city. Children are in awe when they see and experience something so different, and enjoy getting away from the summer heat into this 'winter' wonderland.

"Dubai Under Snow" is open daily from 10.00am to 10.00pm and on Friday from 3.00pm to 10.00pm.
