An Indian man has been reported missing in UAE with a truck full of chocolates worth Rs10 million (Dh547,200).
According to a report by India's Mid-day, Sajid Patel - a 40-year-old Mumbai resident, has been in Dubai for six years and recently went missing with a truck full of Mars chocolate bars
According to Avalon General Land Transport, the road transport company that Sajid had been employed with for two years, all efforts to locate him have ended in failure and the Dubai police has been looped in to track him down.
A timeline of what happened:
August 4: Sajid was assigned to deliver a container filled with chocolates to the tune of $85,000 to Buraidah in Saudi Arabia. According to Robinson Rodrigues, General Manager of Avalon, "We were in touch with him till August 12 when the GPS showed his location to be in Riyadh, the report added.
August 13: He was to make the delivery, but just 450 km from Buraidah, the company lost contact with him.
"First his GPS went off, and then the truck went missing. The truck itself is valued at Rs5 million."Before his disappearance, Patel had made 50 trips across the Gulf.
"We are constantly in touch with the Buraida warehouse and the driver has still not reached there with the consignment. We hope nothing has gone wrong with our employee in Saudi Arabia."An official statement by the company said that they had apprise Dubai Police about the case:
"We have now informed the Dubai police and the legal process to locate him is underway. We have also written to the Indian embassy and hope for a positive reply" - HR representative from Avalon.An investigation by Mid-day also yielded no results as they visited the address, as mentioned on his passport, and found that his relatives now occupy the home. They said that Sajid had not lived there in eight years and was not even in touch with them.
"We have not even met him over the last two to three years. I am aware he was in Dubai, but have no information about him going missing."
