Dilip Pendse, the former managing director of Tata Finance, has allegedly committed suicide.

According to Indian media reports, Pendse was found hanging in his office from a ceiling in Dadar East.

Initial investigations reveal the time of death to be between 9.30am and 2.30pm.

Reports said a note was found near his body, wherein he mentioned 'personal reasons' as the reason for his suicide.

The former Tata group executive had been embroiled in controversy for a long time.

Indian market regulator Sebi had barred him and three others from the capital market for manipulations at the time of the company's right issue in 2001.

He had also been arrested for his alleged involvement in misappropriation of Rs20 million in a group company.
