Organisers say it will feature daily competitions and contests tailored to raise public awareness about the UAE's heritage. Up to 12 UAE citizens will participate in each contest. Three awards will be given out in every activity, with the winner receiving Dh5,000, the runner-up getting Dh3,000 and the second runner-up taking home Dh2,000. The prizes have been provided by the DSS Office.
Ahmed Ali, DSS Operations Coordinator, said, "The Min Bladi event is the only one of its kind in the DSS 2007 In-Mall festivities. It aims to increase awareness amongst UAE nationals about their heritage, customs and traditions. Our goal is to revive our heritage and disseminate it among the young generations. We want to convey to them a clear-cut, all-embracing image of the deeply-rooted traditions of our forefathers."
Competitions staged at the Min Bladi event include popular cuisine, best poem, best hand-made product and best coffee.
