Fatima is the fourth child born to Ayesha Ghanim Mohamed Al Suwaidi, who has three sons.
“I am delighted to have a baby with the advent of the New Year. I am grateful to God Almighty that my wife and baby are in good health. We did not plan to have a baby on New Year’s Eve, but it happened naturally. This is a surprise gift for me,” said the father, Bandouq Abdul Rehman Al Qamzi, who is incharge of the Accounts Section at Shaikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi.
The last baby of the year 2007 in Abu Dhabi also was delivered by an Emirati woman at the Corniche Hospital. Born at 11.36 pm on New Year’s Eve the girl, weighing 2.74kg, was named Maryam.
Maryam’s mother, Maysa Saeed Al Zaabi, hailing from Fujairah, has two daughters and a son.
Khaled Yosuf Al Abduli, Maryam’s father, who is working in the Defence Department and residing in the capital for the past nine years said, “Having a baby on New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration and I am in the hospital with my kid and playing with her. I thank God that my wife and baby are in good health.”
In Dubai, the first child of the year was born at Dubai Hospital to an Emirati mother, Hessa, 10 minutes past midnight on New Year’s Eve. Weighing 3.16kg, the boy was named Mohammed.
The father of the child, Ali Murad Hussain Mohammed, said, “Mohammed is our first child and we are delighted at his birth. I’m proud of him and I hope this year which brought for us Mohammed would bring peace and security in the world.”
The last child of 2007 was a baby girl, Shaimaa, who was born at 10.37pm at Dubai Hospital to an Emarati couple.
In Al Ain, one baby each was born in the last hour of 2007 and the first hour of the New Year in Tawam Hospital.
The first child was born to Emirati parents seven minutes after the stroke of midnight. Weighing 3.70kg the baby boy was named Mubarak Ali Mohammed.
“My wife, Salima Mohammed Al Rashidy, and I are so happy for the God’s gift in this wonderful time,” said Ali Mohammed, father of the child.
The last child of 2007 in Al Ain was born to Salma Abd Elnabi Ghulam Al Bloshy at 11.01pm. He was named Mohammed Salem Addin. Weighing 2.43kg, Mohammed is the first child of his parents who got married in 2006.
