Waiting for power supply has become history on the Red Island in Ras Al Khaimah where the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa) has supplied electricity to 3,000 residential units.
According to a top official, power has also been supplied to 145 villas at the Arabs Port, and a number of hotels on the Reef Island here.
Mohammed Saleh, Director-General of Fewa, said such breakthrough in power and water supplies, mainly in the remote areas of the country, would not have been possible without the tireless support of UAE's prudent leadership.
"The Fewa has managed to carry out the critical infrastructure projects needed for the water and electricity sectors across the country in a record time and in line with the latest international standards."
The authority has supplied electricity to all the 3,000 residential units on the Red Island, known as Al Jazeera Al Hamra, he explained.
"Our power network has been developed to cover all the planned and under construction residential, tourist and industrial projects."
The authority has supplied power to all the factories of Al Jazeera Al Hamra after they paid out the supply charges due, he disclosed. "Up to 200MW have been provided to the factories on the Red Island."
Saleh said that the Fewa supplied the hotels on the Reef or Marjan Island with some 30MW. "The authority is bound to supply power to all the tourist institutions and hotels on the Red Island and in Al Gheil area."
The ever-developing network of Fewa will help meet the power requirements due for all residential, tourist and industrial projects in the emirate, Saleh affirmed.
"The power and water recently supplied to residential units here will add more value to them, particularly as they are located at some of the most beautiful and scenic areas in the emirate with extensive green areas."
