Thrill seekers looking to have an adrenaline-packed performance to give their senses a thorough work out should head to Magic Planet, at the Mall of the Emirates to check out UAE’s first 4-D simulator for an almost realistic trip from one galaxy to the next.

This XD theatre is an eight-seat virtual reality experience combining state-of-the art graphics with a highly advanced motion platform.

Wearing specially provided spectacles that catapult the wearer into a three-dimensional action setting, the passengers are transported on their chosen journey safely ensconced in seats that are secured to the floor, yet can still move up to 100 times per second to give an incredibly lifelike impression of frenetic travel.

Thrill seekers Barry Madlin, Kia Ibrahim and Ro Mercado told Khaleej Times that they thoroughly enjoyed the spine-tingling ride.

“The effects were a reality. At certain time during the ride you have a vision of being plunged into space.I gripped on to the sides of my seat, at an exhilarating height, and the feeling was realistic and fun too,” said Barry.

Visitors can choose from three amazing rides including the Haunted Mine, the Cosmic Coaster and the Jett and Jin Adventure.

An added effect of wind that blows into the riders face heightens the experience of being in the XD theatre.

Looking for clean shoes? Head to the Dubai Outlet mall to have a free shoeshine between January 8-10. The organisers will also explain to customers on how to maintain their shoes and keep them shining. On filling a data form at the mall, each customer will be given a complimentary goody bag from one of the leading shoe retail outlets in the mall.
