Enjoy Moroccan culture in Abu Dhabi

Thousands of visitors have been enjoying the Moroccan cultural extravaganza in the Capital since the launch of the Morocco in Abu Dhabi last week. The festival runs until April 30 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec).
Among the favourite spots of several visitors is the Museum of Moroccan Heritage, which is presenting rare antiquities and artefacts that are being displayed outside Morocco for the first time.
A total of 300 antiques, including manuscripts, oil lamps, Islamic pottery, jewellery and horse-riding tools, are displayed at the museum with all the trappings of the country's vibrant culture.
"Guests of the festival are able to learn more about Morocco, the culture of the North African country, its present, past and future. They also get acquainted with its architecture, music, art, fashion, museums, cuisine and rich traditions," said Adel Khatem, a Morrocan exhibitor taking part in the festival.
Celebrating the bond between the UAE and Morocco, this year's festival is dedicated to Moroccan women and their unique character of generosity, dedication, intuition, vision and creativity.
The event also showcases the country's traditional architecture, characterised by its simplicity and distinctive identity.
Besides seeing the best of the nation's heritage, visitors are treated to Moroccan music - with all its spiritual and tribal rhythms - right at the venue and during late-night concerts that feature Moroccan singers and other traditional performers.
Culture enthusiasts, on the other hand, are bound to discover the creative genius and gifted talents behind Moroccan craftsmanship, with all the works on display - from jewellery and embroidery to raffia shoes, Cherbil, Tazwaqt, engravings on wood sculpture and pottery, as well as the famous amlou and Henna tattoo.
"This is a must-visit for people who love everything about culture, heritage and architecture," said Mohammed Arif, who visited the Moroccan event.
A special evening for an exclusive fashion show is also being held during the event.
"This year's edition is filled with a friendly, enchanting, welcoming heritage environment, enriching visitors' imagination and memories with its diverse cultural, artistic and historical activities and antique collections," said an official from the Moroccan Embassy.
The event is open daily to the public from 3pm to 9pm.
