The agreement is part of DWA's objectives to enhance relations with all regional, Arab and world organisations which contribute to the development of women, motherhood and children.
Under the agreement, the DWA has become part of organisations and institutions actively involved in supporting sustainable human development efforts and targeting groups mostly in need of attention in developing countries, particularly women and children.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Khawlah Al Naboudah, Director-General of DWA, said AGFUND is a regional developmental institution established in 1980 on the initiative of Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, and with the support of leaders of Arab Gulf states constituting its membership who also contribute to its budget.
She explained that AGFUND was supporting and funding programmes and projects in the sector of health, especially for mother and child, aimed at raising health awareness, primary healthcare and environmental health.
It also contributes a great deal of support and funding of educational programmes and projects targeting women and children, particularly the disadvantaged groups, through basic education, drafting of educational curricula, establishing and equipping educational institutions and vocational training centres.
Al Naboudah said that the DWA would benefit from AGFUND since it would provide training to family consultants who would subsequently contribute towards solving social issues affecting UAE society including divorce, drug addiction and corruption. The cooperation with AGFUND would help the DWA achieve greater success in the field of women development in the emirate.
She said that under the agreement, AGFUND would soon set up training programmes for UAE national consultants in the field of family and legal affairs and education.
"AGFUND, in coordination with the DWA, will also organise special awareness programmes for UAE national couples planning to tie the knot to help them establish well-settled families," she said.
