The bodies of K. Prasad, 40, his wife Vijayalakshmi, 37, daughter Kavitha, 11, and son Ketan, 10 were found in a lodge in Hyderabad, Indian media reported on Sunday.
Prasad, an engineer, was working with Dubai Petroleum Company and his children were schooling here. Though a human resources official at the company confirmed this, she refused to provide any further details.
“All we know is that he and his family have been killed in India,” said the official who did not provide her name.
In a telephonic conversation with Khaleej Times, the Hyderabad Assistant Commissioner of Police, Y.V. Ramana, said Prasad’s body was found in one room while his wife and children were found dead in an adjacent room in the lodge.
“Prasad and his son were found strangulated. We suspect that his wife and daughter were poisoned as well. But it is not yet clear as we are yet to get the post-mortem report.”
The family had once postponed their return to Dubai after one of Prasad’s cousins died unexpectedly.
“His cousin had committed suicide and because of that they had rescheduled their journey to August 21.”
Ramana said the police were hunting for the two men and two women who stayed with Prasad’s family and were probing all angles to find the motive behind the family’s murder.
