Palestinian Ambassador to UNESCO Monir Anastas said the 'inscription is a message of hope to our people in Gaza, who are fleeing bombs with no shelter, no food or water'
John builds more than muscle! 9 June 2008 JOHN ABRAHAM rarely speaks about his compassion for the underprivileged. But in the last few years, the Bollywood hunk has done a lot very quietly.Just recently, he got a leading financial organisation to build homes in Karjat for tribal villagers through the NGO Habitat for Humanity that is supported internationally by former President Jimmy Carter, Bon Jovi, Ricky Martin, Steve Waugh and other celebrities. Asit Koticha of ASK Group came forward with an initial offer to make 100 houses. But overwhelmed by the experience and inspired by John’s commitment to the cause, they have now announced their support for another 1,200 houses to be built in Maharashtra and Gujarat. John, through his effort ‘John’s Brigade’, has motivated many corporates to support his cause to build homes for tribal villagers in rural India. “I believe that to be happy in life you need a home. “You need to go back to something. You need to go back to those four walls which belong to you, which you belong to,” John said. “The ASK Group has come in at the right time and I wish more corporates would come forward and ensure that more families and children have a safe and decent place to call home.”.
