A drunk New Year's Eve reveller took a trip in a cab across three countries before he finally decided to get dropped off near his home in Norway. The man, who is in his forties, racked up a £1,643 bill after he travelled 370 miles from Denmark to Norway, via Sweden.
Moreover, he ran off without paying the taxi driver the enormous fare until Oslo police found him passed out on his bed.
The man hailed the cab in Copenhagen and rang in the New Year on his way to Oslo where he arrived after midnight. He then travelled up the coast of Western Sweden past the city of Gothenburg and got dropped off at his destination in the Abilds neighbourhood, in the Norwegian capital.
After leaving the taxi, the man went inside his home and never returned to pay the fare. The angry taxi driver then called the police at 1.00 am on January 1, 2018, and the man had to pay £1,643 for his cross-country taxi ride and other damages to the car due to the hauling journey.
According to the Mirror, Oslo Police operation leader Vidar Pedersen told Norway's NRK, "The driver saw the man enter the apartment. We were subsequently able to contact the man. He was sleeping in his own bed."
Oslo Police revealed on Twitter that the Danish taxi driver had to call for a recovery vehicle after his car broke down following the long journey.
