The Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA) has called on residents to contribute to protect the wildlife and conserve the environment.
The call coincided with the start of the winter season, when residents flock to deserts and mountain areas.
The EPAA, in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Sharjah, has put up signboards in the inner areas in the central district and distributed awareness booklets about fines on environmental violations.
Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, chairperson of the EPAA in Sharjah, said that violations such as dumping hazardous waste, soil erosion, vegetation damage, tree cutting, illegal hunting and leaving animals unattended are banned as per the provisions of the act.
