Dogs' day out at a second home

Dogs day out at a second home
A DOG'S LIFE... is a happy one at My Second Home. Being able to take a dip in the pool, run on carpeted grounds and groomed by highly-trained attendants, dogs enjoy their happy days here.

The dog park opened in April 2015 with nothing but the welfare and comfort of the dogs in mind.

Well, it's summer and it's really hot outside. So where can we take our dogs to stretch their legs and run for a couple of laps?
There is actually a dog paradise located at Dubai Investment Park called My Second Home. It is arguably the world's largest fully air-conditioned luxury kennel - or to put it more accurately - a dog resort and spa. Spread across an area the size of 18 tennis courts, our canine friends can enjoy here a dip in the pool (they have two swimming pools), run around a carpeted play area, enjoy day care, or get groomed by highly-trained staff.
We were really amazed when we took pictures and saw dogs running around unleashed while others were getting a break from summer heat by having a nice swim.
Some were seated on the couch, others were getting a massage and trimming. There is also a special nook dedicated for small breeds that resembles a child's nursery - complete with colourful paintings and wall-mounted flat-screen TVs showing, what else, a dog channel.
Dogs are also separated by size so the larger ones will not "bully" the smaller ones.
South African expat Sean Parker, general manager at My Second Home, told Khaleej Times that the dog park opened in April 2015 with nothing but the welfare and comfort of the dogs in mind.
But make no mistake, dogs are not the only ones having a field day at My Second Home. It is not just a place where dogs can play, but also a venue for people to socialise. Pet owners also get a peace of mind whenever they go to work because the place also offers day care.
"We have a pick-up and delivery service for our clients," Parker said.
According to Parker, My Second Home can accommodate up to 100 dogs at any given day. "Number of visitors differ but they can all be attended by any of our 45 well-trained staff," he said.

CANINE COUSINS... As much as dogs love to play, they also enjoy the presence of humans. Dog owners also get time to socialise at the centre.
