Cultural renaissance has come into life: Sultan
SHARJAH - His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Sharjah, said today that contemporary cultural and intellectual momentum in terms of quality and quantity cultural has realised his plans for cultural renaissance. Shaikh Sultan tasked the Arab Theatre Authority to institute a pan-Arab competition for stage performances.
Sheikh Sultan was speaking at the concluding session of the 21st edition of Sharjah Theatre Days in the presence of Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
The Ruler commended efforts being made by UAE dramatists to promote and advance the theatrical movement, pledged full support for these efforts.
“In April 1979, I declared that “let us stop the concrete revolution and launch the cultural revolution. Today and after 32 years, we arrive our target,”Shaikh Sultan remarked.
At the end of the ceremony, Shaikh Sultan honoured winners of the Sharjah Theatre Days.
