The 1965 hit classical Sound of Music soundtrack would be the apt way to describe the innovative playhouse for kids, Favourite Things Mother and Child, in Dubai Marina Mall, simply because the place has every child’s favourite things.
Located on the second floor of the shopping mall, Favourite things opened in the mall a month ago by partners Farah Bizzan Nabulsi and Sandra Saifi Madi. They have been in children’s entertainment business for the last two and a half years.
Favourite Things Mother and Child is an innovative concept that puts a fresh face on children’s edutainment and motherhood.
The playhouse has an extensive play area for children who are as small as 9 months to 15 year-old teenagers.
The children’s play area has a toddler’s soft play area, sand room, kids play room, mini bike track, arts, crafts, cooking and science room, fancy dress room and jungle gym.
“A glass partition divides the play area and the café, where parents can have coffee and snacks while keeping an eye on their children” said Sandra Saifi.
“Any child under the age of 4 is not left un-accompanied by an adult. There is constant supervision on the play area by attendants and the area is safe especially for the smaller kids” added Sandra.
Additional features include a maternity centre for parents, boutique corner, children’s hair saloon, a longue room for 8-15 year olds and a café.
The centre has a dance studio, where children can sign up for dance lessons for ballet, break dancing, hip hop, street jazz, zumba fitness, Nike rock star workouts, contemporary dance, and show tune tots for 3-8 year olds.
Andrea Suppo, from Brazil, whose daughter Marina is a member at least 3-4 times a week, said “My daughter loves the place, so I love the place.”
Scottish national, Gail Wallace who has a two-year-old daughter Emma, said, “The place has a lot of diversity in their toys and activities. This is my second visit to the place, and my daughter really seems to enjoy it.”
The centre also has a party hall, and is soon to start summer, winter and spring camps for the children.
Lana Hoffman, a South African national who has a 20-month-year old daughter said, “The place is a little expensive, but that’s okay because it’s an occasional treat for our daughter” said Lana.
