Starting from Shaikh Zayed's early years in the Buraimi oasis, the book depicts the stellar record of an iconic leader's achievements and bears eloquent testimony to one man's unique visionary thinking and legendary success.
Launched by the Center for Documentation and Research (CDR) in the capital yesterday and published on the directives of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs and President of the Center for Documentation and Research, the publication titled Zayed: From Challenges to Union is a sequel to the earlier publication titled Qasr Al Hosn: The History of the Rulers of Abu Dhabi 1793-1966.
The book, authored by Dr. Jayanti Maitra, opens up a panoramic historical view of the life and achievements of Shaikh Zayed as recorded in contemporary British documents.
The book has been written with the purpose of offering researchers and readers an in-depth insight into the scope and extent of British archival records wherein Shaikh Zayed occupies a place of prominence.
Based on exhaustive investigation and in-depth analysis of volumes of primary records of contemporary British officials who served in the Gulf, the book goes beyond existing studies published so far by offering access to detailed and wide-ranging information hitherto unknown.
