Speaking to Khaleej Times, Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning, said that the complex will soon be inaugurated by His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman. He said it is to be launched as part of the municipality’s new strategic development plan which also includes several developmental projects that would make Ajman a model of modern cities.
The project spread over 1800 square metres with capacity of housing more than 55 shops and small stall outlets costs more than Dh5 million. The project is aimed at facilitating the inspection work for the municipality’s inspectors who can easily carry out their duties in one area instead of travelling from one market to another in different areas. It would also help in saving time and money for the consumers from all parts of Ajman when they shop for their needs at one place.
Saif Al Shamsi, Deputy Director-General of Ajman Municipality, said that after the inauguration, the municipality will be coordinating with Ajman Police for shifting facilities from the old markets to the new one.
He added that the new shopping complex which is located on the Al Ahmadiya Road is easily accessible to people from various part of the emirate. The complex, Al Shamsi said, is designed to meet the requirements of the consumers and it will contribute to speedy development process taking place in Ajman.
Al Shamis pointed out that the Ajman Municipality will take care of the waste management, security, house keeping and provide other services.
“Currently, around 70 per cent of the area has been utilised for the complex, while the remaining 30 per cent would be used for the expansion in the future,” he said.
According to Al Shamsi, the new shopping complex has modern design and includes an administrative block and wholesale and retail markets. The wholesale market would comprise several blocks consisting a total of more than 55 outlets and stalls. Each shop in the complex is provided with two parking lots for loading the goods on one side and two for unloading imported goods on the other side. Centralised refrigerators and warehouses have also been set up in this section.
