Amity University Dubai, a leading institution for quality learning in the UAE, during its 4th annual convocation held on 13th December, conferred Honorary Doctorate His Excellency Saeed Al Tayer Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority for his contribution to the development of renewable energy and protection of the environment in the UAE.
The convocation for the Graduate and Post Graduate students was held on the sprawling lawns of Amity University's new campus in International Academic City in Dubai. The university handed out degrees to 239 undergraduate and 131 postgraduate students in Engineering, Business Administration, Nano Technology, Nuclear Science & Technology, Forensic Sciences and Tourism Administration and Hotel Management. On this occasion, Gold Medal was awarded to twelve, Silver Medal to ten and Bronze to five meritorious students their distinctive academic performance.
Accepting the honorary Doctorate, His Excellency Saeed Al Tayer Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority thanked Amity University for the honour and urged the graduating students to make a positive contribution to the development of the country. He said that the universities and service providers have to work together to bring innovation and quality in public services.
The Founder President of Amity University, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan congratulating the graduating students said: "Learning is a lifelong process which does not stop after the graduation. The graduating students should keep the fire of inquisitiveness and knowledge- seeking alight even after leaving the university". He added that he was very thankful to the leadership in the UAE for helping the Amity to realize its dream of setting up the state of art of campus in Dubai.
On this occasion, the guest of honour, His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Al Karam said that Amity University has emerged a leading university within a record time. He urged the students to get out of the comfort zones and accept the challenges and opportunities opened by the developments in science and technology.
