A popular bakery in Al Ain has been shut for repeated violations that posed grave health risk for consumers.
Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) that regulates the food business in the emirate has ordered closure of Modern Lebanon Bakery which had been operating in Al Maqam area in Al Ain until its sorted out violations.
The ADFCA inspectors have first issued a notice and then a 'Warning' before issuing 'Violation' ticket six month ago, ordering the owners to remove the shortcomings.
Thamer Al Qasimi, Director of Communication & Community Service at ADFCA said: "Our food control division has reported that the management failed to improve the situation inside the establishment" as well as couldn't sort out the issues related to health and food safety requirements.
Yet the bakery proceeded on along with the violations which led to its closure.
The bakery will remain closed until its owners prove that they are adhering to rules concerning the bakery business.
According to Al Qasimi, the owners violated clauses 12, 14, 15,19,42,51 and 59 of the Regulation No: 6 of 2010 pertaining to the fitness of food throughout the entire phase of food chain.
The inspectors reported that the plan, design, size and construction of the bakery were unfit for carrying out food related business such as storage, cleaning and de-contamination.
The bakery will never be allowed to run the business until they clear all violations.
The top official also urged public to notify immediately to the authorities if any untoward activities come across similar incidents.
