The Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi on Sunday announced that fines incurred at toll gates would be reduced by 25 per cent they are paid within 30 days.
According to the decision issued by Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Department of Transport, motorists would pay only 75 per cent of the fine if the payment was made within 30 days.
Sheikh Theyab also announced that the decision regarding the implementation of traffic toll regulations in the emirate has been published in the official gazette.
The DoT earlier this month clarified that while the toll gates have come into effect in Abu Dhabi from October 15, motorists will not be charged until January 1, 2020. Moreover, some fee exemptions and monthly caps were announced too.
In addition to existing daily cap of Dh16 per vehicle, new monthly limit was introduced. A motorist needs to pay only Dh200 for first vehicle, Dh150 for second and Dh100 for each additional vehicle.
