The action was taken during a campaign launched jointly by the Health and Trade Licence sections of the municipality against companies found violating health regulations after the expiry of the three-month grace period given to them to improve the situation.

Salim Obaid Al Mamari, head of the Health Section, said the closed companies will now not be given permission to resume their business.

These companies were given three months to implement international health standards in the bottling of drinking water.

A circular had been issued to all companies in Ajman ordering them not to hike the prices which ranged between Dh3 and Dh5 for a 5-gallon bottle.
