Some 150 truck drivers of different nationalities have attended a recent Dubai Police lecture on the dangerous repercussions of drug use.
Workers for real estate companies and public transportation firms in Jebel Ali area were also present.
The awareness lecture focused on the negative impacts of drugs on one's behaviour.
Instructors also explained the causes that could drive someone to drug addiction and other harmful effects.
The police have encouraged motorists who were already using drugs to seek help by contacting authorities via the 901 hotline. Any information discussed through the hotline shall be kept confidential.
According to the Drug Control Law, an addict should never be punished if he or she sought help from the public prosecution or a special treatment centre.
During the lecture, experts also reminded the drivers to always prioritise road safety, especially since they often hit the roads with loads weighing several tonnes.
