The road has just begun for Majid Al Naqbi and the Emirati is hungry and eager to take another step in his professional boxing journey when he gets into the ring again next weekend.
The 22-year-old from Khor Fakkan, who won his first professional bout earlier this month, will be in action again in the Knockout Night at FIVE on May 3.
Al Naqbi, who floored his Russian opponent Vladimir Lytkin in the Lightweight category at 'The Fight DXB Uncovered' at the Emirates Golf Club, will take on India's Sandeep Duggal as part of the Main Card on Knockout Night.
Al Naqbi, who became only the second professional boxer from the UAE after Eisa Al Dah, joins a stellar cast that will see 28 martial arts specialists across 14 bouts on the night.
Adding heft to the competition would be the presence of British boxer Amir Khan, who will be among the audience.
"This event gives me a chance to fight again and it is a great opportunity to fight in Dubai again," Al Naqbi told the Khaleej Times on Thursday.
"I just need to prove myself. I want to keep fighting more. This is another fight and I'm ready 100 percent. I'm hungry to beat anyone in my weight division. I also have another fight coming up in July," he added.
Al Naqbi's bout against Lytkin was watched by Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and was televised live on ESPN.
Al Naqbi had Lytkin on the mat with a right hook and the fight was cut short at 2.33 seconds in the fourth and final round, with the Emirati winning by TKO.
Meanwhile, Knockout Night sees nine bouts of boxing, including the undefeated Cruiserweight Viddal Riley versus "UAE Boxer of the Year" Mo Ali, and five bouts of kick boxing, including five-time Muay Thai World Champion, Atakan Arslan, versus Christos Avramidis.
"Knockout Night at FIVE is Badou Jack Promotions' first event in the UAE and we're really excited to showcase the very best of international and regional boxers and kickboxers. We're proud to host local fighters including Majid Al Naqbi and Saudi Arabia's Julaidan Abdulfatah," said Amer Abdallah, CEO of Badou Jack Promotions.
