The Pink Caravan Ride arrived to Dubai on its eighth day (Tuesday) of the 10-day tour, where a variety of events and activities took place, aiming to reach out to the society with the message of awareness about early detection of breast cancer.
On Tuesday, the Pink Caravan Ride kicked off from Downtown Dubai-Burj Khalifa at 9:00 am, and reached Al Sofouh Beach in Dubai at 3:00 pm, covering 11 km, bringing the total distance to 152.1 km since its kick-off on March 7.
Tuesday's events included 3D golden hand imprints of three Pink Caravan ambassadors, as part of the golden hands galleria for Pink Caravan ambassadors, as well as the CrossFit event.
The ride made several stops to promote their awareness message of breast cancer and dispelling misconceptions surrounding the disease, as well as to encourage people to benefit from free screenings.
Armani Hotel, the first destination on the eighth day of the ride, saw the exhibition for the golden hands galleria of Pink Caravan's ambassadors, which features the golden 3D imprints of a number of its ambassadors. The event saw a great enthusiasm and interaction by the audiences.
Kite Beach at Dubai was the second stop, where Sault Restaurant hosted the whole team for lunch, while the audience watched the golden 3D imprinting of three Pink Caravan ambassadors, namely Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Faisal Al Qasimi, Shaikha Hind bint Mohammed bin Faisal Al Qasimi, and Mariam Al Shorafa, who is also member of the Ajman Business Women Council.
The "CrossFit" event took place at Jumeirah Beach Residence, JBR, with the participation of Mohammed Juma Al Musharrakh, Member of FoCP and Chairman of CrossFit Club, and Nada Al Naqbi, Head of the Pink Caravan Sports Committee.
Not only the CrossFit enthusiasts enjoyed an exciting sporting day in the open air, taking place from 6 to 8 pm, but they also benefited from the two lectures conducted in the same venue.
Commenting on the events, Reem BinKaram, Head of the Pink Caravan Events Committee, said, "the "CrossFit" event comes as part of our continuous efforts to organise innovative and aspiring activities to attract the largest possible number of audiences to benefit from the educational programmes organised by the medical team, and to undergo the free breast cancer screenings offered by the Pink Caravan to women and men of various nationalities throughout the seven emirates."
She thanked all those who attended, supported and contributed to the success of this event, which saw a huge public turnout.
Mohammed Al Musharrak, said "I believe that everyone has a big responsibility towards his society, and should contribute to the success of these national awareness campaigns. As one of the founders of the CrossFit clubs in the UAE, I suggested organising this sporting event, and hence I would like to thank the Higher Organising Committee of the Pink Caravan Ride for materialising my suggestion."
On a related note, the mobile mammography clinic at the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and fixed medical clinics at Al Mizhar Healthcare Clinic, the Indian School and the medical booth at Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah, saw an impressive turnout by all members of society, who were keen to benefit from clinical medical examinations conducted by the Pink Caravan's medical team, working in collaboration with the London-based Princess Grace Hospital in the UK.
Demographical analysis of screened people on the eighth day shows that a total of 563 people were medically examined, as the clinic at the Indian School received 287 people, while Al Mizhar Healthcare Centre offered free examinations to 85 people, and the mobile mammography clinic at the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority received 51 people.
The medical booth at Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah received 63 people, while the United Medical Centre received 77 people, and it was extended to one more day due to the huge turnout. This brings the total number of screened people in eight days to 4,422, including 1,002 Emirati men and women.
