The Dubai Municipality has warned residents against sticking 'random advertisements' and posters on buildings or face a heavy fine.
In a video tweeted on Saturday, DM said that sticking random advertisements on buildings will warrant a Dh1,000 fine. They video also offered a tip on 'smart organised advertising', in order to avoid getting fined.
The advisory by Dubai Municipality follows Abu Dhabi Municipality's warning - earlier this year - regarding illegal sticking of advertisements. The Municipality had warned residents against putting up unlicensed adverts and signboards on building facades, bus shelters, light poles and street roundabouts, distorting the appearance of the city. Abu Dhabi Municipality has also levied the fine of Dh1,000 for the offence.

In 2016, Ras Al Khaimah introduced fines for such offences. Hefty fines starting from Dh2,000 and up to Dh10,000 shall be slapped against any unlicensed posters that might advertise accommodation or services such as tuition. In case of repetition, a more stringent penalty shall be imposed on violators, and their companies shall finally face closure, warned a senior official with the department of economic development in Ras Al Khaimah.
