ROP also announced the arrest of an internationally wanted criminal of an Asian nationality after he stole gold and jewellery from a house of a citizen in the governorate of Muscat.

He was detained while he was selling the loot to a citizen, police said. Investigations revealed that the accused was an international criminal wanted for committing a crime in another country.

Meanwhile, accidents on Oman’s roads last week claimed the lives of 18 people and injured 387 others. The worst mishap happened in the wilayat of Shinas when a speeding vehicle rammed into a stationary object resulting in the deaths of two people, police said. — ravindranath@khaleejtimes.com
