Islamabad: A legal notice has been served on former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani for return of Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan’s necklace.
Amid flurry of media reports, Gilani admitted last week that the necklace donated by the Turkish first lady for flood-affected people that was missing mysteriously, was with him.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has told the former premier that legal action will be taken against him if he doesn’t return the necklace within 48 hours. According to FIA sources, Gilani will have to face legal action under Section 403 if he doesn’t comply with the notice.
The necklace donated in 2010 by Mrs Erdogan for flood-stricken people had disappeared prompting Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to order the FIA to investigate the matter.
