Khalid Shamim, the key accused in Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Imran Frooq's murder case, has confessed to committing the crime.
According to sources, Khalid Shamim made the confessional statement before Magistrate Capt. (retd) Shoaib.
Khalid Shamim said in his statement that he has links with the MQM and that he received the orders for killing Imran Farooq from MQM leader Mohammed Anwar in London. "Then I passed on the order to murder Imran Farooq to others," he added.
When the magistrate asked Khalid Shamim if he was giving this statement under pressure, the latter replied in the negative.
The statement instead of being typed was hand written. The statement, which was then read out to the accused, was signed along with his thumb impression.
Later, the second accused Mohsin Ali was summoned before the magistrate for recording his statement.
Dr Imran Farooq was murdered in knife and brick attack near his residence in London on September 16, 2010.
