JSQM leader’s death sparks protest

At least one man was killed and several others wounded in protests over the death of Jiye Sindh Qaumi Mahaz’s (JSQM) leader Maqsood Qureshi in mysterious circumstances on Friday.

The JSQM leader’s death triggered tension in Hyderabad and other cities and towns of Sindh.

Maqsood Qureshi was travelling in a vehicle with an associate Salman near Bhirya road in Bhirya area of Naushero Feroze when it mysteriously caught fire.

Both men succumbed to their burns wounds.

During protests, one man was killed and three persons were injured in firing by unknown men near Sakrand Road in Nawabshah. Several others were injured incidents of aerial firing reported from other districts.

The death of JSQM leader sparked protests in various districts of interior Sindh and armed men took to the streets and resorted to aerial firing. They also forced closure of business activities.

Trade activities also came to a halt in Hyderabad, Larkana, Ratodero, Qambar, Shahdatkot and other small districts of the province, following killing of the JSQM leader.

According to reports, Maqsood Qureshi was going to Karachi to mobilise party workers in connection with their “Freedom March’ rally on March 23 in the province. — Online
