Four held over botched attack on Saudi consulate

KARACHI — Four people allegedly involved in a botched attack on Saudi Consulate were arrested up by security officials in operations across Karachi, police sources said.

Police said that suspects belonged to the outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. Three suspects, identified as Zaki alias Kamran Moshin, Mohammad Ali and Tehseen alias Tabish, were picked up from the Arambagh area.

A fourth suspect was arrested from a residential complex in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The suspect sustained injuries while resisting the arrest.

Police officials claimed that the arrested men were allegedly involved in target killings, sectarian violence, murder and attempted murder among other cases.

The Saudi Consulate located in the Defence area came under attack in May last when four men riding a motorcycle threw explosive material towards the building that failed to detonate.

The attack came Just days after the assassination of a Saudi diplomat in Karachi.
