Bahrain Airshow achieves its goals

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa deputised Prince Salman, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister to open the 3rd Bahrain International Airshow on Thursday which featured 108 companies from the civil aviation and air logistics industry.

The crown prince visited a number of stands displaying cutting-edge aircraft, military and defence vehicles, as well as aviation technology.

The crown prince also launched Great British Week, a series of events over the course of week celebrating 200 years of longstanding ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom.

In his opening address, the crown prince highlighted the large number of companies representing British innovation and technology at the airshow, and praised the organisers for their efforts to make the Great British Week a success.

Following the official opening, he watched the aircraft displays by the Bahraini, Saudi and Emirati air forces, as well as by other air forces and civil and commercial aviation companies.

Ministry of Transportation’s Civil Aviation Affair’s Assistant Under Secretary Security and Safety and BIAS director, Hussain Al Shuail, commentating on the measures taken by the organisers said: “The minister of transportation has been committed to demonstrating a visible enhancement to airshow complex.

Our aim has been to improve and enhance the opportunities for effective demonstration of aircraft and related aviation products and services, as well as the networking experience for delegates. ”

Voluntary work award winners honoured

Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), has patronised the ceremony of granting Shaikha Hessa bint Salman Al Khalifa’s Voluntary Work Award in its first edition. The initiative had been launched by Princess Sabeeka in recognition and appreciation of the charity efforts of the late Shaikha Hessa bint Salman, in various areas.

The award aims at contributing and strengthening areas of voluntary work of young male and female Bahrainis and encouraging them to take the initiative and to be innovative in an area where Bahrain has a sound reputation. Princess Sabeeka honoured the winners of the award.

Jawad Restaurant Division on the front foot

The Restaurant Division of Jawad Business Group held its annual conference, “Forge Forward 2014” at the Juffair Grand Hotel, recently.

The conference focused on the restaurant division’s agenda on how to overcome challenges in 2014.

The two-day meeting was attended by teams representing restauraunts from across the GCC — brands included Papa John’s Pizza, Chili’s, Jamie’s Italian, Thai Express & more.

Managers came together under one roof and held discussions on how to overcome challenges in the business and ways for improving services. The also discussed methods for reducing carbon footprint and practice hygiene and food — safety procedures.

Guest of honour Faisal Jawad, chairman and CEO, Jawad Business Group, presented trophies to all top performers in the current year from across GCC.

Speaking on the occasion, Tapan Vaidya, general-manager of the Restaurant division at Jawad Business Group said: “It is important for the entire management team to come together and celebrate our success; discuss ways to exceed our customers’ expectations and provide fair value to them; get fired up with motivation towards a successful 2014 — be on the front foot and lead the way!”s
