The Emirates called for strengthening the international humanitarian response and providing urgent relief to those in need

It's not often that one gets to enjoy good food with an exciting theatre production. While the murder, the bloodshed, the suspects and a mother finding her long-lost daughter pulled at the heartstrings, the amuse bouche, wild mushroom tart, smoked salmon roulade and more delighted the senses, making the evening a wholesome one.
The food - a set menu comprising three courses - and the murder mystery/musical extravaganza were in harmony. The venue for this intriguing experience could not have been better - on board the majestic QE2. As is Dubai's tradition of offering the best to its residents, the legendary cruise liner has been lovingly restored to her former glory encompassing all things heritage, entertainment, and luxury to become a permanent floating hotel.
Being a hardcore meat lover, it was with skepticism that I chose the cannelloni with parmesan crisp as my main course instead of the mozzarella and sundried tomato stuffed breast of chicken, and I do not regret it one bit. The juicy spinach and ricotta filling with the tomato salsa was just right and creamy. The irresistible lemon meringue, which came in a crisp, and sweet tart with baked pavlova and fresh raspberries provided the right ending to the murder mystery dinner theatre experience. The involvement of the guests - full house in fact - in the play made the event all the more engaging.
Taste: The blush-pink salmon was wonderfully fresh with a deep smoky flavour and was accompanied by a lovely flavourful burst of the caviar, a dot of cream cheese and chopped dill. The stuffed chicken breast was a tad overcooked. The amuse bouche and the tarts were delish.
Ambience: QE2, the floating museum, hotel, dining and events destination bespeaks luxury and "Speak Easy" - The Grand Lounge is a spectacular extension of this. The purple-tinged dim-lit room provided the ideal backdrop for the exceptional experience
Service: Service was impeccable with the waiters serving as if on cue without being overwhelming, making the guests feel pampered. Food arrived on time after each scene and the servers disappeared into the background every time a scene began.
Presentation: Classy would be one word to describe the food and ambience. A combination of theatre with murder and music and good food makes for a fun the dining experience The no-nonsense lounge with a large stage proved to be the ideal venue for a great entertaining evening.
Value for money: At Dh395 per ticket, per person, one could say it is pricey but, the three-course 'dinner to die for' with refillable beverages made it worthwhile. The guests were transported to the 1920s with a unique combination of music, mystique and food.
