The precious metal has climbed approximately 12% this year

About a decade ago, a friend hired a personal trainer - back in Delhi, where I used to live then - to get her into shape; she'd decided she needed to go down about 20 notches from 62 kilos. And get into shape she did, over a year. It was the first time that someone I personally knew had availed of the services of a PT, and gone the whole hog. These days, getting your own PT is commonplace; everyone is doing it. And because social media tracks every breath we take (including the heavy ones taken at the gym), and every move we make, PTs - and what they do for you - are out there. Are personal trainers the new social media stars? What does it take to be on everyone's instant, Instagrammable recall? We speak to a few 'celebrity' PTs to get to the bottom of it.
Someone was trying to hatch a weekend plan, last weekend, to go watch Jab Harry Met Sejal. I was pretty keen - I'm a huge fan of both Shah Rukh Khan (but of course!) and director Imtiaz Ali. But something cropped up and the film-watching plan was cancelled. Thank God for small mercies. Everyone I know - everyone - ended up trashing the film. Turns out, this is not the first case of the Bollywood bubble bursting this year; Jagga Jasoos and Tubelight suffered similar fates - much hyped, then much tanked. In our Bollywood column this week, Khalid Mohamed tells us how the fault doesn't lie with the stars (SRK, Ranbir Kapoor and Salman Khan respectively), but with the corresponding directors. An interesting take. Read and decide if you want to still take a chance on Harry meeting Sejal.
This week, we also showcase the WKND Top10. It will be an ongoing project, where various sectors from around town will be rounded up, every fortnight, and our top picks for each sector crowned. We kick off with 'Fitness', and tell you about the hot spots that cater to this need. Travel treads the unlikely trail of New Zealand's northern island, far from the 'usual suspects' of tourism. Mango rides the popularity - and seasonal wave - in Kitchen Classics. A retelling of the tales of Arabian Nights. All this and much more.
Enjoy reading WKND and have a great weekend.
