A road leading to Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the country, has been shut down as heavy rainfall lashes the emirate, the Ras Al Khaimah Police said in advisories issued on Tuesday afternoon.
The public should take the necessary precautions and avoid valleys, they added.
"Motorists and all road users must strictly follow traffic police directives, and keep themselves updated about the weather conditions."
A number of roads and valleys in the emirate were flooded, informed sources and eye witnesses told Khaleej Times.
Abu Dhabi Media office also issued an advisory today for residents and motorists to stay alert and take all precautionary measures when driving or sailing.
