Ras Al Khaimah: The Central Operations Room of the RAK Police has received some 480 traffic reports across the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah over the last few days.
According to a top officer, the minor to moderate traffic accidents received were mostly due to the hailstorms, strong winds, and rains that lashed different part of the northern emirate from the very beginning of the week.
Brigadier Ghanim Ahmed Ghanim, Director General of the RAK Central Operations Room, said the heavy showers on the emirate, particularly on Al Dheit, and the Red Island have logged and blocked most of the roads and roundabouts here.
“The strong winds have flown the sand and dust to the roads as well, but successfully, the RAK public works and service department has managed to remove all the accumulated sand and suck out the ponds of rainwater.”
Brig Ghanim urged the public to contact the Central Operations Room only in case of emergency. “We have also specified two other phone numbers for inquiries: (072356600 - 072356611).”
The RAK Police has warned seafarers, beach and valleys goers, and motorists about unstable weather, as per a report issued by the National Center of Meteorology & Seismology in the UAE.
“Residents of the areas much exposed to pouring showers and strong winds, are urged to be careful, and immediately call (072356611 – 072356600 – 072356998 – 072356999) in case of emergency.”
Warning seafarers, beach and valleys goers, and motorists, the RAK Police have further urged all driver to be more cautious on the roads of the emirate during the unstable weather whereas.
All drivers need to abide by speed limit, avoid overtaking, and observe safety space during this unstable weather and drivers may stop off the road in case of low vision for all road users’ safety.”
Meanwhile, the temperature has significantly dropped to as low as 6.9 degrees Celsius at the peak of Jees mountain to the north of the emirate where heavy rains and hail covered most of the areas there.
Early this week, heavy to moderate rains and large amounts of hail, lashed different parts of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, cutting power, blocking some roads, and flooding some houses.
