A man has been accused of stealing a young woman's mobile phone at a beach in Sharjah.
The young woman had been at the beach with her boyfriend. She left her phone in her purse near her things and went for a swim in the ocean, as per Emarat Al Youm report.
She came back to find her phone missing.
After tracking her phone's barcode, police were able to trace the whereabouts of the stolen item and arrested the man.
In court, the man denied the robbery charge, claiming his friend was the one who stole the phone.
He claimed he had eyewitnesses to prove his innocence but they were all outside the country.
The court deferred the next hearing till December 30. The man remains in custody.
