On Monday night, when most of us were still recovering from the New Year hysteria, 30-year-old Emirati Jalal Bin Thaneya completed an excruciating two-week journey through his motherland. To honour the UAE and support children with special needs, Thaneya had embarked on a journey across all the seven emirates on foot. Yes you read the last two words right.
Raising awareness one step at a time, his Twitter page documents the inspiring story of his long and exhausting trek that ended on the Corniche in Fujairah at 8:30pm, Monday. A giant leap for the UAE as he now eyes an official Guinness record.

The journey was no mean feet. There were times when Thaneya walked through empty desert highways with no garages, no food, no water and no people in sight.
At times, he ate less than 1,000 calories in two days, but still continued to sweat out, literally.
Through his Twitter feeds, he takes us through the hardships he endured throughout his trek. "My mental stamina is 100% but my body and strength are at its worst," he wrote in one of his tweets.
