Civil Defence authorities in Dubai managed to extinguish a fire that erupted in two warehouses in Al Qusais Industrial area on Tuesday. They said the fire caused huge loss, which is yet to be assessed. No casualty has been reported.

An official at the Dubai Civil Defence said that the Operations Room received an alert about the fire inside a warehouse that stored tyres at 2.30pm.
Teams of firefighters from Al Qusais, Hamriyah and Karama reached the site and managed to control the fire, he said, adding that they successfully prevented it from spreading to more warehouses. The teams also conducted cooling operation before handing over the site to the Dubai Police for investigation.
Huge plumes of smoke could be seen billowing out from the area close to residential buildings.
Shruti Lachmi Narayan, a resident of Al Muhaisna who witnessed the fire, said it had been ongoing for several hours. "The fire looked extremely massive. I first noticed the flames and the black clouds at 2.30pm when I drove past the area. My apartment is very close to where the fire took place. The police had cordoned off the area."
The civil defence official urged the owners of companies to abide by the precautionary and safety requirements in warehouses, factories and engineering companies to prevent fire accidents.
